Abstract
This paper analyzes the trends in Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) and educational funding for Scheduled Tribes (ST) in India, highlighting disparities in access and financial support. GER data reveals improvements in upper primary and secondary education for ST students, yet primary and senior secondary levels exhibit declines and persistent gaps. Enrolment trends in
Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) indicate growth in states like Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, but other regions show fluctuating or absent data. Funding analysis for residential schools and welfare schemes highlights significant state-wise disparities, with Odisha and Jharkhand showing strong support, while states such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh lag. Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) face inconsistent financial allocations, and EMRS funding shows utilization challenges. Overall, the findings stress the need for targeted strategies to ensure equitable, effective educational opportunities for tribal communities across India, addressing gaps in funding distribution and program implementation.
