Editorial Policy

1. Editorial Philosophy and Standards

Artha Vijñāna adheres to internationally accepted best practices in scholarly publishing, consistent with the editorial standards followed by leading global publishers. The journal is committed to academic excellence, editorial independence, transparency, and ethical integrity in all aspects of publication.

Editorial decisions are based solely on the scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigour, relevance, and contribution of manuscripts to the fields of economics and related social sciences.

2. Editorial Independence and Governance

The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the editorial content of the journal and the timing of publication. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by the publisher, sponsoring institution, advertisers, or any external interests.

The Editorial Board and Advisory Board support the Editor-in-Chief by:

  • Providing subject-matter expertise
  • Advising on journal strategy and scope
  • Assisting in the peer-review process
  • Upholding ethical and quality standards

Appointments to the Editorial and Advisory Boards are based on academic reputation, subject expertise, publication record, and commitment to ethical publishing.

3. Scope and Article Selection

Artha Vijñāna publishes original, high-quality research that advances theory, empirical knowledge, or policy understanding in economics and allied disciplines. Manuscripts must fall within the journal’s stated aims and scope.

The journal publishes the following manuscript types:

  • Research Articles

  • Book Reviews

All submissions are subject to rigorous editorial screening and peer review.

4. Peer Review Policy

Artha Vijñāna follows a double-anonymised peer review process, in line with international best practices.

Review Process

  1. Initial Editorial Screening: Manuscripts are assessed for scope, originality, ethical compliance, and minimum quality standards.
  2. Peer Review: Suitable manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent expert reviewers.
  3. Editorial Decision: Decisions may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
  4. Revision and Re-review: Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers at the editor’s discretion.

The editorial team ensures that peer review is fair, objective, confidential, and completed in a timely manner.

5. Ethical Standards and Publication Integrity

The journal follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), UGC–CARE, and other internationally recognised ethical frameworks.

Key Ethical Principles

  • Zero tolerance for plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication
  • Transparency in authorship and funding disclosure
  • Respect for research involving human participants or sensitive data
  • Accountability and correction of the scholarly record when required

Suspected ethical misconduct is handled in accordance with COPE flowcharts and procedures.

6. Conflicts of Interest

All participants in the publication process—authors, reviewers, and editors—must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing their work.

Editors and reviewers with conflicts of interest must recuse themselves from handling the relevant manuscript.

7. Confidentiality and Data Protection

  • Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.
  • Reviewer identities are protected under the double-anonymised review system.
  • Personal data is handled in compliance with applicable data protection regulations and used solely for editorial purposes.

8. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Artha Vijñāna is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in scholarly publishing. The journal encourages submissions from researchers across regions, institutions, genders, and career stages.

Editorial and reviewer selection is guided by expertise and academic merit, without discrimination.

9. Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions or raise complaints regarding the peer-review or editorial process. Appeals must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed objectively by the Editor-in-Chief.

10. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

  • Corrections (Errata/Corrigenda):Issued for minor errors that do not invalidate the findings.
  • Retractions:Issued for serious ethical breaches or errors that invalidate the work.
  • Expressions of Concern:Published when investigations are ongoing.

All such actions are clearly labelled and permanently linked to the original article.

11. Open Access and Copyright

Artha Vijñāna provides open access to its content to promote global dissemination of knowledge.

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish and distribute the work under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence, unless otherwise specified.
